Default Why not Kenny Bell?

So, after pricing out 03-04 Cobra's I think I'm just going to SC my 02 GT unless I can stumble across a decent deal in the next month or two. Just can't bring myself to pay $25K for a 8 year old car with more miles than I've got on my car :-(

So, I'm curious and haven't found much searching on this. When ever anyone ask about a SC I always see people talk about going with the Vortec or Procharger. I see the procharger is the same price as the 9psi intercooled KB kit. Is their a reason why most 2v mustang owners are going with that type of SC? In the 3v and 4v world it seems the opposite which is what has me confused. On my 2010GT I have the Roush M90 and love it's power delivery.

Also, anyone have real world experience with tork tech?

Are you positive the Procharger is around the same price as a intercooled Kenne Bell? I was under the assumption the KB was significantly more.

I think the main reason most will choose a centrifugal is due to cost. In some cases the car may have aggressive gearing that's more suitable to this kind of blower.

Stay the hell away from the tork tech kit unless you want to deal with a lot of bull**** and hassle. I've installed a couple of them and you can't pay me enough to do them again. I have a i/c kb 2.1 on my gt and a kb 2.8 on my 4v swapped gt and couldn't be happier (besides wanting a 2.6 instead the 2.1 on the gt) prochargers and vortechs can be found cheap used in good condition as well as kenne bells for a little higher asking than those.

Typically a kb will be more expensive so more people go with a cheaper vortect or procharger.

I dont have personal experience in the matter but i have heard from a thread i posted that the KB has horrible customer service but tork tech is the opposite. obviously Gt04 thinks otherwise for his own reasons. as far as customer service i called tork tech and got a person right away who was more then willing to answer my questions and help me out. When i sent a simple email to kenne bell though i didnt get so much as a automated response back.. I can not speak to either of the products personally though. As far as price i would have to agree with everyone else. i cant tell you have i have seen a thread time and time again about how someone got a vortech blower for 500 and rebuilt it for a couple hundred and couldnt be happier

Alright well, first of all its Kenne.

2nd of all, while the kits themselves may be comprable in price (i still think a centri kit is cheaper lol) you can piece together a vortech kit (even everything brand new) for much cheaper than a whole kit... you'd think it would be the other way around.... while KBs are just expensive.

I personally am a fan of centrificals for street cars, more advantage coming out of the hole especially on the street because of reduced traction issues, because rolls are for the bakery.

I have called and talked to Kenne Bell tech support numerous times. I can only think if 2 times where I was on hold for a little while.

The tech knew his stuff (Think his name was Mike if I remember right). Also realize, that the guy I ordered the KB 2.1 from, was also the same guy that answered the tech line. I am sure he/they take a lot of phone calls...

As far as the blower goes, I could not be happier...

I love my vortech setup and whenever I call vortech support with a random question they always pick up and take their time talking on the phone no rushing. I picked up my kit brand new and complete for $2500 brand new off craigslist.

another thing is if you buy the 2.1 Kenne bell, im pretty sure 14lbs is all you can run ( IF you end up wanting more) and anyone know how much a 2.6 or 2.8 upgrade would cost? But yea most cost effective is a vortech s trim or procharger.
