The 3650 was used on all Mustangs from 2001-1/2 through 2011. In 2005 the shifter was changed from the top-loader used until 2004 to a remote mount unit.
I do not know if the bell-housings are compatible.
S197's use a hyd clutch too, not sure how that works, but i think its the TOB type IIRC

It takes "x" amount of work (force times distance) to actuate a given clutch; doesn't matter how you get it there, mechanically or hydraulically, it will always be the same amount of work.
You can increase the force and decrease the distance, or decrease the force and increase the distance, but again it will always be the same amount of work...
