Default O/r or catted ? WITh magnapacks!

I have the opportunity to go o/r without the bother of emissions so just wanted peoples input on either going o/r or catted with the magnapacks. There seems to be too many negative aspects of going off road like the exhaust fumes, cel light, loss of low end torque, cops possibly looking under your car to see if you have cats. All for like a few horsepower up top, i dunno, what do you guys think? I just want others input that will help me decide. Oh and I will be getting a Dr Gas x midpipe. Heard alot of good things about their exhaust. Thanks

Well since you don't have to worry about emissions, forget everything else, and buy based on sound.

Personally in general i'm not a fan of o/r h pipes on the louder straight through style mufflers. That's just me..

I run magnapacks with an o/r x pipe and love it. I get complements all the time.

I agree with mrstang, you should choose based off what YOU think sounds best. I suggest looking on youtube for sound clips.

Thanks guys your opinions help me out alot. I guess my main concern is low end torque loss. Did you guys notice a seat of the pants loss? I know u gain it back up top, but it would suck to feel like a dog down low and have mini vans pass you at a light lol. Also, would high flow cats be the next best option? How much of a difference in sound is there from a highflow cat to o/r? Is it a major difference in sound?

Well i can personally tell you that i noticed a slight loss down low when i switched to a o/r x from my catted h. It quickly evened out though.

I noticed it once I put hi flow cats on my o/r x. So there was a slight notice in the loss of power down low with the o/r setup. Many will argue against it though no matter how many people have done it a felt the loss.

Well since you guys went from a o/r and to a catted, how much of a sound difference was it? Was it much quieter or just a tad? I guess it could be a fair trade off.

Actually i went from catted h to o/r x, then back to catted h. Main reason was because my mufflers are way too loud with a o/r pipe.

With that said there was pretty big difference in total volumn. The o/r pipe will produce a much more raw sound as well, which isn't always a good thing depending on your setup.

yea I had my o/r setup with flows and from 2000-2500rpm it sounded like a rattling can and the sound cleared up after that rpm. The o/r set up was alot louder in comparison though. Its kinda hard to explain but the hi flow cats only took away Some ove the volume it moreso cleaned the sound up at all rpms. you can hear it in the link thats on my sig. mac o/r x, pypes hi flo cats welded in with flowmaster 10series.
