98' Cobra H-pipe HELP!!!(smog problems)
I'm trying to get my car ready for smog. The car came with BBk L/T headers, O/R x-pipe and a catback. I want to know if the stock H-pipe from a 99-04 GT with manual transmission fit my 98' cobra if I replace the headers with factory exhaust manifolds or shorty headers? Any input or help highly apreciated. thanks
You are in Cali and facing the exact issue of which I am debating how to face
I know the LT's are not gonna pass, but you know that already. I am not even sure if the shorties would work, but I know that some will.
Wish I could be of more help
Good luck and welcome to MF's, Jazzer

JBA makes a shorty header called cat4ward (http://products.jbaheaders.com/cat4ward.asp) which is 50 state legal I just installed them on my car and got the carb sticker with them. As far a the x-pipe I really don't know, But you could try and contact Racers Edge Tuning in Downey, CA ( www.racersedgetuning.net). They have a complete parts department. I know the guy I used to have work on my car had 04 cobra x-pipe laying around in case someone needed one for a hefty price of course. Good Luck it's tough in California.
Thank you guys for all the info I really appreciated. I'll look into those headers your talking about snakelover. Thing is I have a 01 GT oem H-pipe in my garage. Guess i'm gonna have to do some custom work to make it fit lol
