I have heard that as well, however I have never found anyone other than those with boulevard cruisers¹ and garage queens² that has actually had the problem...

¹ - Run for 20 miles a night at 25 MPH, stopping every block for a light--with 23kW audio systems blasting out some sort of mind-numbing offensive racket.

² - Run down to and back from the weekly meet at Chick-Fil-A, and perhaps trailered to 2 or 3 shows a year.

I've never had any charging issues with my Steeda UDP's...or any issues for that matter.

this sort of thread has been beaten to death over on svtperf and corral a million times. it always ends up with fights between members and a locked thread but also many engine builders and members think that most underdrive harmonic dampners will eventually cause catastrophic damage to the oil pump gears. i have heard that the damage is from the new dampner incorrectly smoothing out crankshaft harmonics. But i have looked at underdrive pulleys and the steeda kit does seem to be a good system and they also state that they have worked together with ford to engineer them. I hear that Innovators west and ATI make great dampners but they also cost a lot.
a member on the corral named "na svt" suggested using a "march 1158" harmonic dampner. i think im going to go with that one and then just get some ebay alternator, power steering, and water pump pulleys.
