what are the best type of gears? are the ford racing gears about the same as the motive brand? i can save $40 if i get the motive over ford racing, is it worth it?

ford racing are probably the best. people haven't complained about motive either, but i'll stick to ford. yeah, it says 94-04. you can e-mail them to be sure that it works. you'd just have to set it right according to what their site says. mine is calibrated for an 04 with 3.73. so you'd have to just go there and find the settings for a 96 with 4.10s (if that's what you get).

If you plan on doing future mods, I’d recommend a hand-held tuner (to re-cal your speedo FYI), but that’ll tack another $350+ onto your final cost….

Yep, that's high for sure.

Dude, you don't need a handheld tuner, nor speedcal, nor chip... Ignore those guys.

You have a mechanical gauge cluster... All you need to do is put a new plastic gear in your transmission and you'll be dead on... Any shop that works on mustangs should be able to do it and know what you're talking about.

You shouldn't pay anymore than $300 for a gear install. Shops charge by the hour and if it takes them nearly 600 bucks worth of labor to get it done, I wouldn't trust their work.

The cat-back will sound nice, but gears are going to be most beneficial to you at this point.
