Difference between GT and Cobra
What does cobra have exactly that the GT doesn't have?
I know that the Cobra has a supercharger and it's a 4 valves.(390Hp, 390 lbs of T)
But what if i add a Kennebell supercharger to the gt(260Hp, 310 lbs of T?)
will it be faster than a Cobra?

Let's see...what's different?
Off the top of my head:
Better Brakes
6 speed manual transmission
different suspension
and then some different body panels.
As far as beating a Cobra...part of it's the driver but, yeah, the 1.7 KB SC will give you engine specs that will beat the specs of the stock Cobra. You may also have to address tires, gears and/or suspension to put that power on the ground.
I have an 03 that is headed for the 1.7 KB here in the near future.

RE: Difference between GT and Cobra
Probley the biggest difference is that the Cobra has forged internals!!! If you are going to be installing a 1.7 KB on a gt and want to run a lot of boost you will need to upgrade your intrenals if you want your motor to last (running high boost) If you are debating on buying a gt and the KB to put on it, you are IMO better just getting the Cobra (03-04 of course) and then maybe upgradeing the SC to the KB if you want more power.

RE: Difference between GT and Cobra
how about a 1999 cobra are those good? because the 2003-2004 are still expensive for me. A mustang at least priced at $15K is reachable for me. But more than that I can't. Plus with the damn crisis witht gasoline. It's $3.15(87), 3.25(89), 3.35(91) over here in Phoenix AZ

RE: Difference between GT and Cobra
there are alot of differences between the GT and Cobra.
Yes a KB GT would give a stock Cobra a run for it's money but mod for mod, the 4 valve is always going to make more power.

If you are looking at a 99' Cobra it is not supercharged. And by the time you pay 15k for the car and add a KB+tuneing to it you will be at the 20k mark if not more. What is it that you want out of the car? How much HP are you looking to get?

RE: Difference between GT and Cobra
Well i want a mustang that will not get beaten by any car that just steps up to me at the street light (The Exception Of Another Mustang)
I definately don't want an SRT-4 hanging with me at all. Im maby looking toward 450Hp. Thats about the MAX Hp for me.

RE: Difference between GT and Cobra
Get the 99' Cobra if you found one and can afford it. Stock SRT-4's will not be able to beat you, and as you slowly start to mod it you will be makeing it harder and harder for them to beat you. 1st thing to change is your gears (go with 4.10's) if they have not already been changed. Then you should start with your exhaust, then intake, that should be a good start. A s/c of any kind is going to run you a good 3-6k for purchase/install/tuneing. Hope this helps. You can always put it on the bottle too!!!

RE: Difference between GT and Cobra
99 do not have S/C. They had intake runner issues hence they weren't produced in '02. In 03 they released the S/C cobra.
Gears on a idependant rear is pricy!
I would start with exhaust and intake and see how you like it.
