Default T56 in a 98 Cobra??

Guys,

I'm having transmission trouble with the t-45 in my 98 cobra and it's either going to have to be rebuild or replaced in the near future. The syncro's are almost gone in it. So I was wondering....how much trouble would it be to replace the stock t-45 with a newer t-56 6 speed out of an 03-04 cobra? It would be pretty awesome to have a 6 speed especially since I have 4.10 gears

I don't know if this is the link he was referring to, but it answers the question too:

One thing about the OP's particulars... the termi has an electronic speedo whereas the 98 has a mechanical speedo. T-56s can be had either way, and with different gear ratios (see the link for this).

If you use the 03/04 Terminator T56, get the Speed-Cal II from Dallas Mustang. (Speed Cal I doesn't do it.)
You'll be able to have a working speedo and adjust for a gear swap in the rear. It's how I have mind set up in the '98. DM has a 'how to' on their site that goes step by step and was very helpful.

Alright guys thanks for the info. Now the only thing that will keep me from doing it is the price b/w rebuilding the t-45 (which I can't seem to find a complete kit with synchro's and everything) and buying a t-56.

I always thought it was extremely difficult to rebuild any trans, especially a T-45....is this just a fallacy?
