Default questions about my new 02 GT

hey guys,

i got an 02 Gt yesterday, i really like it... but have some questions...

1. when i go to start it, itll turn over, start and die... start it a second time and it starts up fine, it does this EVERY time i start it...

2. if i only had $500 to throw at this car, what would be the best bang for my buck performance upgrades? im looking to get another 50hp for that amount of money.

3. the driver seat is all messed up, the back wont stay where you adjust it to, bring ti forward and let go of the latch and lean back and it just falls, like the latch isnt grabbing. what is the fix for this?

thats really all i have questions about for now... thank you for any help

By far the best bang for the buck for the New Edges would have to be gears... Good luck my man...

If the car dies the first time you start it everytime I would look into fixing that first before you get into modding the car.
Also $500 wont get you 50 horsepower. If you want to get any significant power gains you're gonna have to spend a bit more cash than that. But like soldier said do gears first. you won't gain any power but it will definitely feel like you did.

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong as I'm an s197 guy but the modding concept and info should be relatively the same. For #2 first off there is only one mod I know of that will get you a lot of power for a low price and that's spray. And all the nitrous kits I've seen are around $550-700. Then you have to worry about instal, idk how mechanically inclined you are. Also you have street legalities of nitrous. Unless you find a good deal on used parts, no other single mod for $500 will give you 50hp. I say the best bang for your buck for around $500 is 4.10s or a cai and a handheld tuner w/ a custom tune. They respond great with the s197s not so sure about the new edge mustangs though. That is unless you just go with the spray.

Congrats on your purchase! If you're looking to get 50hp for $500, you'll need this:

There is a really great sticky with some no-dollar mods listed around here somewhere. I have done a couple of them myself.

Taking up the slack in the throttle cable so the intake opens fully, disabling the dings when you turn the car on and the seat belt dinger also are two that come to mind and made for a couple nice upgrades at no cost.

Really...With the 99-04 it does this? Because I am the 2nd owner and got my car 100% stock almost new and the only time my car dings is if the key is in the ignition and if the car door is open.

Stock is 3.27:1

Available popular ratios are 3.73, 3.90, and 4.10

All of which will hurt fuel mileage, raise cruising rpms, and lower available top speed. Thats the idea with lower rear gears, they take some top speed, raise cruising engine speeds across the board, and you take a hit in fuel economy, for the gain of improved off the line acceleration, and acceleration fro ma roll.

With 4:10s, expect 80mph to be at around 2800 rpms in top gear.

With 3.73's, around 2600

With 3.55's around 2350

And stock 3.27's will put you right around 2100ish.

Tire circumference also plays a role in engine speed, you could see 3K with a shorter tire and 4.10's...
