Default Vibration in the clutch pedal after new trans/clutch install

Hey guys,

I just got through installing a new t-45 and a spec stage 2 in my Cobra. Everything seems to work nicely except for a little clutch chatter (which from what I have read is typically normal during the 500 mile break-in period) but there is some vibration in the clutch pedal when there is no pressure on it, and it's pretty bad. But when you go to depress the clutch, all the vibration seems to stop. Any ideas on what would be the cause of that?

the pedal just needs to be adjusted, mine was the same way when I put a new clutch in.

I believe what shedder said is correct.adjustment issue.(also becareful not to adjust it too much.Over adjusted will burn up disc quicker.

One thing to keep in mind that Spec clutch are known to chatter for what i read about unless you get their flywheel. That why I decide to go with a Valeo KC clutch and OEM Flywheel this winter in my Cobra.

Another problem can be the flywheel.Did get it replaced or resurfaced when you installed the new clutch?

Hey, When i replaced my clutch, and after the 500 miles break in period, i still had the pedal vibrate, and what helped alot was to remove the led weight on the back of the fork, Im not sure if it is the same for a cobra, but i know it helped me alot.

Alright. Maybe that's the problem then. I was hoping for an adjustment issue and not a mechanical one. The only way I know to adjust the clutch is to mash it, then pull it up by hand a few times and then it kind of sets itself. I tried that and it didn't seem to do anything to help. Is there another way to adjust it?

That wouldn't suprise me Repzard, they try to make as much money as they can but I did have the flywheel resurfaced before I put her back together.

sportsguy, what do you mean you removed the led weight? I can't say that I've ever heard of that before.

Thanks alot for the help guys I greatly appreciate it!

How much free play does the pedal have, it should be 1-1/4" to 1-3/8"--minimum of 1" maximum of 1-5/8"...

I'd say probably about 1-1/2 or so.

That is usually about where the semi-automatic adjuster leaves it--you may want to try the procedure described in this link to tighten it up a bit...

With the spec stage 2 I really doubt you will get rid of the clutch pedal vibration but a firewall adjuster may help.

That's exactly what the problem was. I adjusted it like the link cliffy put up said to do, one notch (where the clutch releases towards the top) and it took every bit of the vibration out of it and made it drive better. That was the ticket guys thanks a ton for your help!
