Default Power Shifting

When powershifting from 2nd to 3rd, I hear a squeaking/screaching noise soon As a let go of the clutch. It sounds like a belt slipping on a pully or something but im not sure.
Does anybody know what is happening?

It would help to know the year/milage of the car. However, it could be a throw out bearing, syncros, or the clutch/pressure plate.

Are you smelling anything or feeling the clutch slip?

Umm clutch and power shifting? When I power shift I just keep my foot on the gas and bang the gear in..no clutch used at all..is there some other type of power shifting I never knew about? My dad and uncle (two old school guys) taught me that the way I do it is "power shifting"

More than likely shock to the serpentine belt system, going high rpm then suddenly dropping 3 grand. Do you have udp's? Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's why I love my nice strong tranny and it's also why I only do it when racing..or to scare a new passenger or people on the streets..they hear the roar of me comnig and then no break in the sound..it just stays constant.. I love it haha..it took awhile to learn what rpm to do it at in each gear..but once I got that down its like cake now

If it was his belt I would think it would do it in every gear.

That is really not the way to power shift and it will kill your trans, esp in a stang as they are not the strongest trans. Even in cars with a Pro-shifted trans you still stab the clutch.

I agree... powershifting is just leaving your foot on the gas... not using the clutch with a "street" setup is just retarded. Hell, the <=00 trannys suck even when using the cutch and powershifting.
I dont even do it very often at all and i can notice a small difference... towards the bad side.

happens to me. im going with a good strong clutch and throw out bearing asap. My car has done it even when it was new. And it even worse now, i never power**** 3rd cuz i know im going to rip something apart in there(only does it in third on my car). Sounds like a high pitch noise for a split second when the clutch slips out into 3rd , right?
