Looking to go to the Big Leagues
After driving the V6 for a while now, I think its time to step up to something that makes more power. I just can't stand losing a 0-60 sprint against my wife (in her Subaru Outback) anymore!
So, that said, I am going to stick with 6 for about a year or so, get my money worth out of the new tires on it, and make up my mind for sure about what the next Mustang will be. I expect to have a budget of about $15k or so for purchase price, and probably around $5k for mods in the first year.
This will be a daily driver (I commute 30 miles each way four days a week), will see a little time at the drag strip and I would love to try a little auto-x also. So, really, just looking for an all around fun car.
I am not looking to run 10s in the 1/4, or for 500rwhp, just something that is fun to drive, fairly manageable in the rain, and isn't going to give me a lot of grief if I drive it hard every now and then.
With the 4.6 cars, are there any years/options I should avoid, or any years/options I should try to find?
Or should I scrap the idea of modding a New Edge a little and just get a new/newer one?

My opinion is whatever you decide to get.. make sure it's supercharged.. They are twice the amount of fun to drive over a regular n/a car without one. I have a 2000 GT with 400 rwhp.. and it's a blast to drive.. If you're not looking to be the baddest man out on the street and so on.. Id just say find a supercharged 99-04 GT for 10k... or either a 96-98 supercharged Cobra for 10k.. Keep that extra 5k plus the 5k for mods, totaling 10k in your pocket. Unless you wanna do some exterior mods.

I know the mileage is a little steep.. but this could be a great start!!!

All depends on who had it and how they took care of it. My car has 128k miles and has been supercharged since 30k miles. Haven't really ran into any issues. I was just trying to show the OP that there are some supercharged cars out there for less then 20k... (03 cobra).. It's all up to the OP on wether he wants to go 20k deep or not. If not.. then Id go the route I suggested.
