Default OEM Factory Covertible Boot!

Hey guys,

I was browsing Craigslist and saw that someone had the factory boot and they were selling it for $70! No rips or tears either. I'm picking it up tomorrow. You guys think this is a good deal? I didn't necessarily look into buying one, but I've seen others go for $400 so I figure I should jump on this. Thoughts and opinions welcome.

For $70? Yes, pick it up.

Note: the 2000-2004 convertibles have a different boot than the 1999.

I just bought one on eBay for $170 plus shipping. (STILL waiting for it to arrive. The seller shipped the damn thing USPS of all things)

They sell for over $450 new if you can find a dealer or company that carries them.

Ford discontinued the part and the part is too new for companies like Late-model Restoration to get their hands on.

Edit: See what I mean?

It's different? The poster on Craigslist said it was a 99-04 boot. I should probably ask him before I make the drive. Will it fit regardless?

Edit: Here's the ad. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/2865872480.html

The snap locations are different as well as cosmetic. I linked the one I bought.

It will fit. I had one of those on my 01 and it fit just fine. I didn't need to use the snaps. I sold it because I got the never style for free. The reason I sold the older one is because it didn't fit in the trunk as good. The older style like the one your getting looks a little nicer when installed.

$70 seems like a good price. I sold mine for $100

I see them all the time on craigslist going for $60. I never felt the need for one myself.

I still have my original one... and it has sat in the closet since a day or so after I got the car too. About the only time I would think of using it is if I was showing the car or something of that nature.

I got tired of the one that came with my '03 Vert when I bought it. It never seemed to lie correctly. So... I went and bought a Salleen Hard Tonneau cover for about the same price as the black plastic boot, well a little more, $500. It cost another $500 to paint it Laser Red. Now I basically have a 2 seater(which I like), and she really stands out w/ the Lightbar.
