1996 Cobra SVT
I've been lookin around for a Mustang, and was pretty much set on getting a 94/95 GT 5.0. They are pretty hard to find..but I found a 1996 Cobra SVT (assuming with the 4.6?) and was wondering if they are any good. I have heard that engine isn't the greatest, but I am not for sure. Is the 96 Cobra faster than the 94/95 GT? What is the engine size, HP, Torque and such. It has power everything, black leather, 85000 miles, stored winters, and their asking $10,500. Think thats a decent price, or how low do you think I could go?
Thanks for the info,
Jon

KBB has it listed for $7940.00 and that is showing all options and in Excellent cond. I would offer them $7500 for it. Go test drive it and see what it is like. Yes it will be faster that the 94-95gt and it does have the 4.6 in it.

That is a decent price, those cars ran very strong to, you can have all the fun you can stand in that car on the street. Unless your planning on racing super cars, but generaly your new hemi dodge cars and the old z28 makes for easy pray with that car. Add cams and a supercharger and youl probly need to purchace the drivers seat **** clean up kit from ford racing to help keep your britges clean! Oh ya the differnce in the motor is that it is a 4.6 but it has a stronger block and crank, and it has dual over head cam insted of single like the 4.6 GT's do.

Well I called the guy, went and looked at it, and checked everything out. Honestly the car is pretty much immculate. Near perfect interior, showroom engine, and body is sweet except for a couple paint chips and such. Its got flowmaster's with an x-pipe (stock manifold), short throw shifter, couple of billet interior parts, 3.73 gears, kenwood door speakers and tweeters, some kind of 4 or 5 channel amp or something, um.. those aluminum racing pedals, white gauge face, aftermarket headlights (but their not projector)..um thats all I can think of right now. Its pretty damn fast though! He said he checked out his 0-60 and he got like 5.4 sec.
Oh yea I remembered some more stuff.. Slotted disc brakes with ceramic pads, sport springs (lowers it like 1"), all new shocks/struts, Cobra floor mats..and i think thats it now lol.
The best part of this is that he said he might take my current car that im trying to sell, along with cash (still equal around 10K) so that will help me out quite a bit.
Well whats everyone think? Thanks for the input BTW,
Jon

10k is too much for that many miles, no matter what conditon it's in. I can get a 99 GT today for that price with way lower miles, it might not be as fast, but will probally last longer. Let's face it, these engines weren't built to last forever, they were built to go fast.

i have a 97 cobra and i know a 5.0 has to have a good amount of work to beat me in a race. the DOHC cobras have 305hp and 305tq from 96-98. they dont have a lot of low end torque but a set of 373 or 410's and catless exaust and you wont have a problem with ls1 cars. that care has basically the same engine as the 03 04 cobras - the eaton. i got my 97 2 years ago for 12,000 and it is the best money i have ever spent. if i were you i would forget about the 94 gt's.

Yea they are faster i think they have 305hp and the 94/95 5.0's have i think 225. not sure tho. The car sounds really nice tho and 85K isnt way too much i got 130 on mine and it runs awesome. How much would you end up spending if u gave him the car ur trying to sell?
