Or lets just say building an engine with the same block and upgrading everything else.
I can relate to the fact that you "want to build your car from the ground up ". If you read my Sig., you will see that it ain't cheap. I blew my stock POS GT Motor, It cost me $7000 to replace it with a Cobra Shortblock. Then $5500 for the Paxton2000, with all the goodies, installed. The 4 valve heads; rebuilt trans and rear; suspension; tires and rims, you get the picture. That's not even counting all the cosmetic upgrades. I paid $28,500 new for my GT in 2003; that's because there is a 4-5K premium on Verts. All told, I have put in damn close to $50K total building it. $10k will hardly get you out of the starting gate. Good luck to you.

I love that the point of the project is building a car from the ground up - yet people say sell it and buy a Cobra.
So either start with something owned and dump $10K into it or Spend $20K on a Cobra, then invest $10K to actually do the building part.... hum, waste of money.

$10K sounds like a lot, but it will go quick when you start to look at the big picture.
I'd do the Cobra body, complete the suspension, keep your rear (with upgrades to support drag strip abuse), then do the drive train.

or, you could not be an idiot and buy a Factory Five Mk IV roadster and use the parts from your GT to build it and have a car that will DESTROY 99% of the cars on this forum and ACTUALLY be able to say i BUILT this car, not "i swapped around a bunch parts parts and wasted money"...

if youre gonna spend $20K + why not have something unique?

and if youre dead set on an 03/04 Cobra, buy an 03/04 Cobra

I'm appalled!! I hope this wasn't meant for me, lol! Just bustin' ya, man! Maybe I did waste some money, but I am retired, put 3 Little Bastards thru College, I'm 58, and I don't have a Mortgage. I said to myself " now it's my turn again ". 50K is a lot of money, and if I was the OP I would just buy a Termi,(I love ' Verts) throw in about 8-10K in mods, and like you said, " I will be able to destroy 99% of the cars on this Forum ", and be done with it. I say again, 10K??? Christ, 5K 0f that will probably go towards tires and rims, my friend! Anyhow, I believe I CAN destroy 99% of the cars in here; Cripes I even had to take out my beloved 373;s and put back in the 327 stocker gears, before, maybe 7 months ago, those 373's were perfect... redlineing @ 122 mph in 4th, while putting down about 415 rwhp. It just came out perfect for the 1/4. As for unique, my car is a lot of Cobra, a little bit of a Salleen, a LOT of my vision, and a Beautiful Convertible. She has 72K on the car itself, not bad for 9 years this April; has never been rained upon, either! 18K on ths Cobra Motor, but I be afrightened that I might bust something. The 327's allow me to redline @ about 140 - 145, just right when I hook up good, not spin in 3rd up tp 90 mph, lol!!! As I said before, on a good run, I can trap @ around 138 - 143 mph, once again perfect..... To me that's a whole lotta car for a shade under $50K!!!!!! I've gone thru the traps in excess of 140, with an e.t. of 10.09.... one time only I nailed a 9.98!!! Damn it!!!! Need I say, but there was/is a lotta Pi*s*d off Vipers, Lambos, ans an occassional Fararri.... stiil having trouble with Porsche 911 Turbo's. That launch control the newer ones have is unbelievable!! I don't street race, but have been known to run the 1/2 mile streetlight to streetlight distance. It is pretty hilarious.... a Cammaro SS, a Charger, even a lowly Porsche Cayman SS will pull up next to me. HAHAHA, it's ALL BAD !!!! they are sitting about 15 car lengths behind, going close to 100 mph, and I KNOW thier saying " WTF just happened??? Did I blow my clutch, ruin my tranny, Dear God, Help Me, God Help me!!! Most of the time, at the next light, I'll let them beat me, after all, I am a compassionate Human Bean. Thanks for listening, and drive safe for another day.... Peace.
