You are going to continue to drive around on shocks/struts with like, what.... 150K miles on them and clearly damaged?!?!?!?!!? You "might" go to the junkyard and spend $20 on some that are probably no better? What kind of driving do you do and is the lack of routine/required maintenance really worth the possible failure of such parts while you are driving down the road?
Not trying to be a hard ***, just wondering why anyone would look to avoid what is 100% normal/required cost to keep ones car safely on the road. Invest in an upgrade of new dampers (forgo replacing the quads and just remove them with a set of new LCA's) and be sure they are a set that meets your ULTIMATE goals

I actually thought that he was joking, would somebody actually DO that? Buying used shocks from a junk yard? I don't want to be **** here, but shocks are not something to be trifled with.
