Default Weather stripping on 'vert

I have a 97 we just bought recently and it's my first convertible...and am trying to determine if it's worth the money to buy new weatherstripping on the convertible top where it meets the windows. Looking at the design, the convertible top goes over the top of the glass and so any rain or snow appears that it would just cascade down onto the glass rather than entering the cabin.

However when I went to the car wash the other day, I got fairly soaked. It's a high pressure wash like any other and the coupe has no problem. But the water was collecting and then would come down around the hinges and dripping into me and the interior.

I guess I could hand wash the car, but is this something that I didnt consider that I couldnt take it through a car wash.

Is replacing the weather stripping on the vert top the solution or is this something I just need to plan on dealing with for the life of the car.

I have an 01 and the weather stripping is in excellent shape. I still get water in with high pressure. My answer to you is to plan on hand washing at all times.

Thanks for the reply. I expected that was the case.

Never, should you go into a machine car wash with a vert. it's just not god for the top. I strongly recommend you wash it by hand and use products to protect the top of fading and weakening from uv rays.

What products should I use to protect the top? I know this one it going to need replaced as there's stitching missing all over it, but being my first vert I am pretty ignorant of the TLC it needs.

Thank you for the guidance on the pressure wash. I will not be doing that again I assure you.
