Default Injector sizes

With my current modifications, the soon to be installed CNC Stage 2 heads, P-51, & cams...Comp says that I will need to upgrade to 24lb's. However, someone I spoke w/yesterday who has a blown GT says that I will need 30lb's.

Here's a his logic: He says that the 24's will work just fine, but 'if' I do anything else to my car to add more power, at this point, I will need larger injectors anyway, so I should go ahead & get them now to save some money.

Here's mine: I don't plan on adding boost or juice anyway (I told Denns from Comp who incidentally no longer works there anymore...found that out yesterday...that I wanted to stay N/A when I was ordering my grind, so all that I could possibly do would be to stroke it (which I not sure will need bigger injectors anyway). Truthfully, I'd like to have my car completed less a nice set of Cobra rims to finish it off before Christmas. I really have no plans of adding anything at all to it after this h/c/i swap however, I've been known to change my mind.

Feedback please...

btw...off subject...how does that lope sound from Comp as compared to VT or any others? The cam I have is closest...hell pretty identical to the xe270 Hot Street, so I am just curious if it will sound as menacing as I am imagining?!

I am also looking at almost the same set up as that. I am looking at Fox Lakes stage 2 heads VT stage 2 cams, and will be getting the P-51 intake here in a couple of weeks. When I install the H/C I will also put on headers. I am going to get #30 injectors for this set up. Code3gt is also running #30 injectors. I would suggest that you get the #30 ones over the #24 one just because you do not want to have to change them out more than once. JMO

It would be smart to upgrade the fuel system. It never hurts to run a little rich... but it is never good to run a little lean.

I think #24s will work fine, but #30s will not hurt anything. I think you'll need a new or recalibrated MAF sensor for the new injectors.

Go big.

MOTOBLUE has an 85mm housing and so does C&L. The N/A Cobras were cal'd for #30 or #36. They are 90 or 95mm.

jdaniel, does he need to look into a bigger pump or maybe fuel rails? (okay, not the rails, but they look nice)

I decided to go w/30's. As far as the MAF change...done that a long time ago[8D]. Also, the P-51 will provide all the equipment I need as far as fuel lines are concerned and what not.

I would look into a pump or a boost-a-pump just to keep from going lean at higher rpms. Just depends on the power he makes on the dyno.

Is your MAF calibrated to #30 injectors? I think you have to recalibrate it to match. jdaniel or code3gt would know.

I don't know. Jerry from SCT tuned my car over a year ago, and that was way before I was planning on getting all of this stuff done, so I don't know. I will be getting another tune after all this stuff is done, so I am sure it'll be calibrated for them if it's necessary. I don't truly think I have to worry about to be honest with you, since I upgraded to the C&L 85mm unit.
