I am selling my 2003 GT, I need to upgrade. I am tossed between a 03-04 Cobra or a 1997-2004 Corvette Coupe or Corvette Z06. My main focus is handling and looks. Power is nice but its not really a concern because I can make more than enough power with some work. I just want a really good platform for racing, mostly a street car. But I want to get into to amatuer racing.

I know I can put a full Griggs racing suspension on the cobra but thats $10,000 and then still the cobra's nose heavy. and 3600lbs. The C5 is 3200lbs. and the Z06 3100lbs. But I love the front of the cobra it looks agressive and the sharp lines. I like everything about the Corvette except the front.

What does everyone else think???? Try have an open mind, I know this is a mustang web site... But I thought I would ask. Thanks.

I'd go z06. if you want handling, the vette is superior.

 

Well, if you have $10,000 for the suspension for the Cobra then I would tell you to save that money and throw a Kenne Bell on it and a slightly less expensive suspension, seeing as how the Cobra already has a good suspension setup on it for road racing. My car hooks like no other around a good curve with the 2" drop springs. It seems like as soon as I hit the curve and start accelerating, that it just tucks down and takes it with such ease. Everything else about my suspension is stock besides the lowering springs. People say that the Vette handles better, and stock for stock it very well may... but who stays stock very long? Put a KB on it and a little suspension work and you will own every Vette on the road course... unless there is a Blown Z06 out there. Then you will have to work just a little harder.

 

i really like both cars but the Z06 would have to be my choice on that the handling is just great on them and its something you dont see as many of compared to the cobra. plus if you put a lot of work into the Z06 i believe you would have a slightly better car than the cobra. both are great cars though and both very fast. i would look at what you would like to do to either one come up with the money that would take then buy the car that better suites your price range

 

I dunno, JD makes a good case for the Cobra and I absolutely love the snake, but if it were me, I’d Z06 it.

 

i'd get an 06 z06, otherwise an 03 cobra. an 04 z06.. pshhht!!

 

as much as i love FORD, sadly i would have to go with the Z06. they are great cars the only thing i dislike about them is their interior.

u should really save up and try and buy a C6 corvette
