Default SpeedCalibration - where to connect?

Over the weekend I installed a set of 3.73 FRPP Gears and rebuilt the rear bearings throughout the 8.8 of my 2004 GT and also bought this Speed Calibration Module from AM/FRPP to hook up:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/ford-s...ool-9410.html#

And we couldnt locate where exactly to connect this module under the hood, has anybody used one of these or at least tell me exactly where this need to be connected?

Thanks!

Isn't it easier to use a SCT handheld on an 04? There are instructions on AM's site but they are for 94/98

yeah I noticed they were for the sn95, and even called AM and they said it would also work on 2004 model and I was looking and couldnt find the connection off of the transmission up to the engine bay??? I was like wtf it has to be here somewhere in order to read and even follow the directions in the box to follow directions from FRPP website and the pdf wouldnt load at all for it.

If i knew where to tap into the connection from the engine bay it would make it really simple. Yeah a SCT would be easy to do, just trying to keep from spending a couple hundred dollars in order to do this.

Not sure what you can't find the instructions on AM seem pretty simple to find what wire to cut into?

There is nothing in the engine bay that is related to the OSS or speedometer. On the '99 through '04 models the OSS supplies a signal to the PCM, and the PCM sends a data packet to the instrument cluster microcontroller that then drives the speedometer stepper motor to display the speed.

The FRPP speedometer calibrator must intercept the OSS signal and rescale it before it reaches the PCM, so you need to be looking under the car at the OSS sensor (DG/WH and GY/RD wires) or pin 84 at the PCM.

Or, better yet ask AM or FRPP to provide '99 to '04 installation instructions...

I appreciate it, will try to follow up with American Muscle and see what they recommend, really pisses me off, so right now I'm about 5-8mphr off on my speedo, so been keeping the GPS in there to give me a accurate reading.

I did not have time to research it yesterday, here's how I would connect it to a '99 to '04 GT:

The +12V connection should be made at any "hot in run only" point.

The OSS is on the driver's side of the transmission back cover/extension housing.

Hope this is of some help...

Hey guys,

Here are the full SpeedCal installation instructions, including pics, for the 94-98 as well as the 99-04 manual Mustangs.

http://www.americanmuscle.com/speed-cal-install.html

Here is a downloadable/printable PDF: http://1.cdn.lib.americanmuscle.com/...or-install.pdf

Pay close attention to the difference in VSS ground wire colors (gray/red) for 99-2004.

Let me know if this is what you were looking for!

Those are for the Dallas SpeedCal, not the Ford Racing tool...
