Default mac cai

Just installed a mac cai on my 02 gt and had a helluva time getting the filter on. There was some kinda box in the fenderwell that was in the way of the filter. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't ever want to clean the filter. It looks awesome but I'm ready to buy a whole new cai when it comes time to clean the filter.

What kind of box? No box in my fenderwall. Just the back part of my headlight. And I know what your saying. A real pain to install and service.

I've got a full C&L CAI with a 9" K&N filter and that thing is the biggest pain in the @ss to recharge. Actually thanks for the reminder, gonna go yank it out now....

Seriously, there's ablack electrical box just to the left of the hole in the fenderwell thats bolted to the fenderwell. Don't know what it is, but it was in the way of the filter. After an hour of trying to get the oval filter turned in the right direction to make it fit I was about ready to throw the sumbitch across the street or rip that black box out and throw it across the street. Next time I think I'll get a conical filter and throw the MAC across the street!!!

hmm is it possible for it to be a fuse bxox because ive never really seen what your talking about, if you are the second owner the last guy may have moved the fuse box over to accomodate somthing else in his engine

No, a fuse box would not be inside a fender wall. The underhood fuses are near the battery where are easy to access and away from water. I see the black box in mine as well but its not in the way of the filter. I do have a round filter which is probably the reason why its not as bad.

I am the second owner, but nothing was moved in the car. I know because it belonged to my grandmother and I just bought it from her in May with only 13000 miles on it. She's 73 years old and after selling her car to me bought a 2005 GT convertible. Guess what my next Stang will be? Go ahead Granny!!

That’s EXACTLY why I went with the K&N FIPK – I can recharge my filter twice a year in less than 5 minutes, and NEVER have to struggle with a fender-mounted filter/kit….

I put in a tunbableinduction CAI in my car and getting the filter in sucked as well. My problem was were the bumper was bolted in was this extruding piece of metal that my filter kept hitting. I almost wanted to take my bumper off for the install just to make it easier, but I didn't. I got to the point were I just forced some pieces together. Enjoy it though...
