Convertible rear window question

Convertible rear window question
Hey guys,
I just bought a 2002 GT convertible about a month ago and I have a question about the rear window. It leaks when it rains (the classic leak that is discussed on here several times) and I'm planning to implement the suggested repair when I get a chance.
My question is about the seal around the window. It is glued or heat sealed to the top on the inside of the window and the seal looks good, but on the outside, the convertible top material just lays on the window and is not sealed at all. Is this normal or should the top be glued to the window on both sides? It looks like water could get under the top material and run down somewhere it shouldn't be if it isn't sealed on the outside, but maybe not. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rodney

You could do what I did when my rear window leaked, call your insurance company and tell them your window is broken. I don't know what Alabama's policy is about glass, but in my state all the glass is covered with no deductable because it is a safety issue. So all I did is tell my insurance company that my rear window was broken and brought it to a apolstery shop that works on tops and had them replace the window at no cost to me. I saw the invoice to the insurance company and it cost them $650. The new window stopped all the leaks.
