v6 to v8 swap. basket full of eggs here
I just want to get at least 90% of all my answers from a source I trust. Some of this stuff was hard to search, so I just lumped it all together.
Friend has a 2004 v6
Friend wants to swap to v8.
I have a romeo block, with pi heads and intake from an 09 vic. I guess I just rotate the throttle elbow 180degrees and it will be groovy? I will be porting the exhaust side of the heads. I'm retaining the stock valvetrain. I found an incredible deal for a stroker kit that includes eagle cast crank, eagle forged rods, hardware, arias(spelling?) pistons and file fit rings for $1100. Requires a .020 overbore though. Compression should be around 8.5-9.1
I'm going to disable pats in the tune, so I need a stock pcm with what wiring? I heard passenger and driver engine harness.
What's the easiest way to setup the a/c system with the fewest parts? Power steering system? Cooling system? Fuel system? Are there systems that I can delete?
He wants to put an on3 kit on it, so a bare minimum recommendation on getting the fuel components and etc up to match would be nice. Both regular and forward facing kits require a tubular k-member? What's the cheapest price on that and what is the cheapest way to upgrade the included turbo in the kit? Will the stock computer be enough to handle 450-500hp? Should I use a stock converter with a 4r70? stock driveshaft?
I am budgeting 3-4k to get the motor turnkey and 5-6k if turbo is thrown in. Am I forgetting something? I am in over my head? Thanks a lot guys. Keep the DIY strong.

1st, read up on the On3 kit. Many people have major issues and end up buying a lot of their own parts to make it work right. Just know what you're getting into.
As for the swap, you're best bet is find a wrecked 99-04 GT and start pulling stuff off of it. You need the underhood harness, the underdash harness, ECU, dash cluster and might as well grab the rest of the drive train all the way back to (and including) the rear axle. Fuel system (including the pump) too. Might as well grab all the stock stuff for the rest as well (A/C, PS etc...). None of it is the same on the V6.
You'll also want aftermarket springs/shocks up front as the V6's stockers don't like the extra weight of the 4.6L up there.
If your buddy is looking for 450 at the wheels a cheaper route would be to keep the V6, go 4.2L stroker and boost it. It's an easy 450 that way. He'll spend less money for the power level he wants.

I own an 0n3. I put a turbonetics 65mm in it instead of the turbo that's included. Poor quality? I'd beg to differ. It may not be the best or on par with the 5,000 dollar kits out there, but damn I'm spending 1,600 bucks and I have a turbo kit that will work.
