Default starter solenoid

Hey guys, I think my starter solenoid is goin out. The car starts fine sometimes and other times it doesnt do anything. headlights, inside light radio everything work. Engine doesn't crank. All I hear is 1 click when i turn the key. My question is everywhere I look I see the old school solenoids for fox body mustangs that go on the fender wall. But they say they are direct fit for my 1998 GT. Can I just pull my starter off and replace the solenoid thats attached to it? I found this one http://www.paperformance.com/scripts...?idproduct=126 will it work? thanks for any help!

Solenoids tend to either work or not. They usually don’t intermittently fail like your experiencing. The click your hearing is probably the solenoid actually working and engaging, but the starter doesn’t spin. Whip out a volt meters and start poking around. My bet is that its a loose connection somewhere on the starter circuit, which should be pretty simple to track down.
