Thumbs up Looking at a 2000 GT Need some advice

Hey guys i've been looking at a few different cars as i will be needing one this summer and came across this '00 GT for sale around my area for $3800 and it has 133,000 KM not MILES. I live in Canada, Ontario.
The car will mostly be for summer going to work and such, and i've always loved Mustangs! Would be awesome to pick one up like this.

I'm posting in this forum just to see if you guys have any concerns, or any common issues that may come along with a 2000 GT like this. I will be getting into contact with the owner and hopefully get some more info on it. So i will have that up when i get it.

Do you guys foresee any issues with it? It seems pretty damn clean, however it does have a fair amount of K on it, but i figured parts and keep up will be less than the Audi's ive been looking at lol.

Thanks in Advance for your Knowledge!

I also forgot to mention that is there anything i should keep an eye out for as far as things that could be problematic? I've seen a few other 2000's V6's that have 140k+ KM and they're going for around $4500 so seems kind of odd that a GT would be cheaper.

Hi, welcome. Looks like a great Mustang for you.Check www.kbb.com to get price range of this car for your area. Check to see if car was every in accident. Check clutch for tranny.Check out the engine, exhaust. The mileage seem to be really low for a 2000 car. just a few items for you. Good luck.

that seems like a great price for a low mileage GT. I would check that thing out.
Not sure why you think "it have a fair amount of K on it"
But something seems strange with that low of a price I would be cautious but if it is legit jump on it

give me the VIN. I can tell you if its been rebuilt or not.

thats 82K miles for 3800. I just bought a 2001 GT with 132K miles for 4800 but also I guess you are using Canadian money. so I paid 4,922.16 Canadian dollars....

something smells fishy about it. Its too good to be true, so I am guessing its a rebuilt titles, or it has a lean. post your VIN number so we can help.

As for what to look out for, check for any leaks or damage to the radiator. Look for any orange looking residue on the engine bay as a sign of it over heating. Check the coolant level, if the coolant looks brown, its has some rust or its had leak stop used on it. Another thing to check is the intake manifold, which is plastic and can crack or warp if it heats up or cools down to fast. Thats really the major issues with the 4.6L I'd say, radiator and manifold.

I will for sure try and get the VIN # to give to you guys, really appreciate that.

And yaa it is suspicious, that's why i figured i should see what things i should keep an eye out for whenever i get to see more of it.
Sort of odd that it's missing the rear spoiler as well...

Hopefully it will be alright and he's just looking to get rid of it.

Thanks for the responses guys, i really am not the biggest gear head so the info is appreciated!

I looked at a number of GTs in that age range passed them by because they had piston slap. Not valve noise, after the cars were well warmed up, there was this light to fairly heavy tapping noise in the engine starting around 2500-3500 rpm and continuing up to red line.

They don't all sound like that. I was later offered a 2003 with 148,000K and it sounded fine, but they wanted $10,000 for it.

Good luck with your new car!

Car looks clean, and judging by the condition inside and outside especially the leather on the seats, I would have to say whoever owned it took care of it. If they keep the car that clean it would be a good bet they kept up on the maintenance. If you are really concerned about problems, spend a few bucks and have a mechanic look it over. But I definitely would check out the carfax.

This is another one i found that's closer to home also, seems more legit that's for sure. Similar to the one mentioned you bought SXGT.

Hopefully i'll have some more information on the two soon!
