Default Traction Control Issue

About 3 weeks ago I took my 02 GT to get smogged. After the smog test was done, I turned on the car and the Traction Control button was turned on. I pressed the button, but the light wouldn't turn off. I must have pressed it about 20 times before it turned off.

Fast forward to about a week ago, I noticed that whenever I turn on the car, the traction control button lights up for about 3 seconds, then turns off, the little green wheel icon in the dash also lights up and turns off.

After the lights turn off, if you press the Traction Control button, the light in the button lights up, but the green wheel in the dash doesn't turn on. Anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Maybe this helps, maybe it won't, but when I turn off TC using that button, my TC dash light doesn't come on. Isn't that normal?

When the Traction Control is on, the lights are supposed to be off, when you turn off Traction Control, the lights are supposed to be on.

When I turn off Traction control, only the light in the button turns on, the green wheel icon in the dash doesn't.

I wonder if resetting the computer will fix the issue.

The green wheel icon on the dash should only come on when the traction control is working. What I mean by that is, if the TC is 'on' and a tire starts to spin the light on the dash should illuminate to indicate the TC is working.
If the TC is turned 'off', the green wheel icon will not illuminate if a tire spins.

Try to do a burnout with the TC 'on' and you should see the light come on.

Oh, I could have sworn I've seen the light turn on before when I turned off Traction Control.
