difference in intercoolers

Default difference in intercoolers

so i have decided to go the way of intercooler instead of meth. i have it set to get an intercooler, a smaller pulley to raise the boost and put on a 75mm intake manifold an plenum. so i called lethalperformance for a whole kit and they priced it at $1750 and i have been looking online and find one from cxracing for $450ish.... i know this may be an obvious answer, so please bear with me all. a thousand dollar difference is alot of money for something that may be somewhat the same. thanks all.

Get the cxracing intercooler. I ran one and it did fine.

You basically pay for the efficiency. Yeah you can get a $200 intercooler but you will probably lose 10psi.
I run a Paxton FMIC, which is $$$$ but I think I lost like 1-2 psi

yea ive read that any changes will lower the boost which is why after doing the intercooler i plan to put a smaller pulley on. i have a stock one now prob something like 3.6 which gives me around 8psi. do you have a vortech sc? will the paxton fit up nicely to a vortech?

Yes I run a vortech V7 JT trim. Paxton is owned by Vortech, yes it is a direct fit. One of my favorite pieces I bought. Very $$$$ though just a heads up

I run a procharger sheet metal cooler, very expensive but one of the best on the market

Yea I can't believe how much this costs just to cool the air that goes in the motor. I called lethalperformance and they want 1750 for the fmic kit. A Paxton one was over 2000. I hope it's worth it. That me for the help 97

Not a problem man. Its not a part you want to cheap out on though, or else you will end up doing it again down the road. Good luck and post up results

In all honesty if u want a paxton or a procharger intercooler the cheapest thing to do is buy a whole blower kit then sell everything except the intercooler.

my 2 cents...build one like i did. i didnt want to go ebay for mine, seems to work well for people but something about ebay gets me going the wrong way... What i did was buy treadstone inter cooler and piping. total cost 600-800 cant remember because i bought lots of stuff i didnt need that i have sitting in a box haha. If you look at the cxr kit people buy it tells you the types of bends you need to buy that will save you some money, treadstone claims less than 2psi drop at max flow. i think i bought tr10 which is now the tr1035 id be more than happy to send my fancy setup up to hang it haha, but it does involve cutting and welding. my suggestion would be if you plan on growing in power find a way to fit the 4 core unit in there, wish i had just bought a little bigger.
