Default Suspension/Shocks/Springs problem?

I have a 96' GT w/ 100k miles. I've had this car for two years and had this annoying loud clunking sound coming from the back/trunk area every time I hit a bump on the road. The road would have to be new or completely bump-free for it to be silent.

What could be the cause of this? This summer I have gotten new shock absorbers in the back, so that is ruled out. Could it be springs, suspension, just the spare tire loose under the trunk mat, or something else?

I wanted to ask the forum here before I go somewhere.

Springs, spring mounts, another part of the suspension, exhaust... are the more common answers.

Sounds like you need new springs and shocks. Mine did that for a while. Check the inside of the fender wheel for wear marks. That will tell you for sure.

Broken rear sway bar is common (look where it bolts to LCA's). and if you have aftermarket exhaust they can rub on things if it is a cheap set up

How much would it cost to fix a sway bar? I have stock exhaust and recently got them tightened.
