Manual transmission fluid?
I went to ford today and tryed to get some manual transmission fluid, because the manual doesnt give the weight and viscosity. The guys at ford told me to use automatic transmission fluid, they say they use it on all there cars, manual and automatic.. I dont think thats right? I would never put automatic fluid in my manual trans... Does anyone know the specs of the fluid to use, I want to go to autozone today and pick up some and change it... Thanks!

I looked in the manual too, it says.
Manual transmission fluid. (part name) Motorcraft MERCON ATF (part number) XT-2-QM
Automatic transmission fluid. (part name) Motorcraft MERCON V ATF (part number) XT-5-QM
Wouldn't the part numbers be the same along with the part name? Also why would they call it automatic transmission fluid, they shoud just call it transmission fluid. I always thought automatic trans fluid was alot thinner in viscocity that manual fluid, also auto is red and manual is brown.... I am very sceptical.
In regard to an Yamaha R1 my issurance qoute is about $5500 a year for a 2005 model. But when I get one, I am not going to include colision on my plan. $4000 is the cost for colision coverage!! Thats just because it so new. Colision gets cheaper the older the bike. I figure if I dump my bike it will only be some minor repairs, or I will total the bike. And if I total it I will most likely be dead, so theres not point in colision.

yeah its kind of strang to call it atf. THey may have been making Motorcraft MERCON V ATF before they started using it in maunal trannies.
3600 was for liability plus theft (Those bikes get stolen a lot around here.) on a 05.

I would like to use mobil 1 or royal purple... But whats the weight and viscocity? I used 85W 140 Royal Purple gear oil for my 89 5.0 mustang.... What is it for the tremec 3650 trans? Same thing?
