2000 GT "chugging" while accelerating

Exclamation 2000 GT "chugging" while accelerating

Hello everyone

When I'm accelerating I notice the car starts too chug when I have my foot on the gas at a certain position. This usually happens at low RPMS and then when I pull my foot off the gas and press on it again it accelerates properly.

This started happening after I installed a cold air intake and replaced the stock mufflers with two different ones the same day! I tried to put back in the stock intake and noticed I'm missing a piece so I had to put it back together .

If anyone else experienced this problem too if they could let me know what they did! The car has 101,000kms now just hit 100,000 a few weeks ago if that helps.

The mufflers shouldn't matter. I suppose you could have done something to the MAF when you took the intake out but it doesn't sound like your problem.

Is it only at a certain point in the throttle? Auto or manual? Does it happen in every gear?

Sorry for the long delay guys, I forgot I made this thread!!!!

I notice this happens only between 1500 rpms and diminishes and clears up when I go over 2000 rpms. The car is an automatic and only happens when I'm first accelerating, but it continues too "chug" until i go over the 2000 rpms.

I read that thread also SecludedGT, that seems like a different problem but pretty close . I switched out the spark plugs as soon as I bought the car at around 77,000kms.

check your ignition coils I had the same problem about a year ago I had a bad coil. they changed the coil and never had a problem since then
