Default Tires

I'm looking to get new tires for my GT. All the places tell me something different... One guys says the Toyo Proxis 4 are the best, another guys said the Dunlop FM901 were the top pick, and another guys said the Dunlop suck and the Dayton Fusion ZRi's are the way to go. Other stores mentioned Yokohama's... My head's spinning. Anyone have any experience with any set?

Well, the tires I have on have lasted 40K miles and they are a Goodyear tire. I just want something that's going to last and give me good performance.

BFG KDW's will last a long time and will hook the best for a non drag radial street tire.

Expect to pay over $140 per tire.

i have Kumho Ecsta Supra 712. their treadwear rating isn't as good as an all out street tire, but they hook a hell of a lot better than stockers. they're also really cheap.

^^^ This is what I have and they are great!!! Check out tirerack.com to get them. They have the best prices and you can get them there cheeper (delivered) than you can at any local shop unless they will match the internet price and most places will not match the net. I think I paid around $140 each for my 285/35 r17's

Do you need any winter all-season performance? If so Continental ContiExtreme Contacts or Pirelli PZero Nero M&S.

all the guys at tire shops are trying to sell you there brand.

i used to work in a tire shop my best advice is.
1. stay away form walmart (they sell name brand but there really cheap tires if ya go to a goodyear store they can't even get you the same model as walmart.)
2. unless you get and extremly good deal shop around before doing the internet thing.
we sold kumho's a 245-45-17 712 would run you $125 form us thats mounted balanced new valve stem(cheap item but can mean alot when it lets loose) and life time rotation. you pay $95 plus shiping what ever that comes out to you have to pay a shop to mount and balance them thats usualy 10 bucks apiece then if the shop whats to be an *** they will charge you disposal(there not suposed to because you pay for that when you buy the tire) do the math befor ya buy off the net is all i am saying.
3.go to a indepent dealer you will usualy get a better deal than a name brand store.
4. just shop around see what is gonna be your best deal.

I JUST ordered and installed a set of Kumho ASX's from tirerack. Really great tires. Comfortable, DEAD quiet, all season, do great in the rain so far, and a 420 treadware rating. $101 a tire for the stock size.

This is what I did and I suggested that you buy online because of price. All the places here in my town either could not get the tire that I wanted (and if they had to order it it was going to take 3 weeks plus $50 extra a piece) or their price was $200+ dollars more than what I found it for at tirerack.com. To give you an example, I called around to all the places here and was quoted $285 per tire for BFG KDW's 285/35 17. I got them online for $145 a piece plus shipping which for all 4 it was 50 buck or so. In the end by getting online I saved almost $600 bucks!!!!!! Call around then look on-line I am willing to bet that it will be a at least $100 bucks cheeper.
