X-Pipe bolted to stock catback
Hello everyone
I was just wondering if I would be able to bolt on an X-pipe midpipe to my stock exhaust. Most of the X-pipes are 2.5" piping but my stock is 2 1/4" piping. I was looking at the Pypes x-pipe with the cats (I'm in Canada) and would I also need to get a tune for making the change?
Thank you,
Raymond

Yeah you can do it. IMO it might sound like poop, x-pipes tend to sound best when used with straight-thru style mufflers - think SLP LM2's or Magnapacks, etc. But it's a start, and you can address the mufflers later if you don't like it.
No tune needed, but you will probably need a set of MIL eliminators or turn off the rear O2 sensors via a tune. Or maybe not. Even with catted aftermarket midpipes some cars still throw a cel.

General rule of thumb is, chambered muffler w/ H pipe, straight thru muffler w/ X pipe.
I wouldn't go so far as to say any particular setup sounds bad, just some better than others. It's all subjective anyway. You might like it, I dunno. Look around on Youtube for exhaust clips to get an idea of what it will be like.
Gas mileage should stay the same. Like any mod, it may drop a little due to driving habits - you might tend to keep your foot in it a little deeper than normal for a bit just cuz it sounds nicer and has a little more power. But aside from that, no negative effect on fuel economy.
