Default 2004 Steering

Hey guys, last night on my way home my steering wheel developed some play when dead center (wheels pointed straight). Car is a 2004 Roush...

Research pointed to the rack being bad. It has about an inch and a half each direction of play.

2 questions, is there any specific part to replace or is it best to just replace the entire rack?

I am leaving in a month or so for a deployment... will it be safe to drive the car until i return? No one will be driving it while i am gone.

disregard! I found the issue! It was the steering shaft. I ruined my clock spring though... it's always something. .. right? lol
