Default Need a new Posi.

Well, ladies and gentlemen... I finally did it.

I have broken the POS Ford calls a posi. I need some suggestions about something SOLID to put in there... the beefier the better!

Thanks,

acer.

well if your really wanting something beefy go with a detroit locker. other wise just rebuild the stock with better clutches. it will be cheaper than a auburn unit and give you about the same results.

btw if it is a daily driver don't try to talk your self in to a spool you will hate it on the street.

No, not thinking of a spool...not that extreme...sorry, should have cleared that up.

Don't really have the time to leave the posi to be rebuilt. Now that I'm out here in Iowa I don't have a performance shop that I trust... Would rather buy a new posi/locker and throw it in with a few buddies.

well a posi unit will give you that smooth factory opperation but it will wear out agian with time a locker is stronger and tend to hold up better not wearing out nearly as fast but they don't giver you that smooth opperation. i would go with a locker if i was to spend the money to replace the factory unit but thats my opinion

You can go with a factory performance TrakLok unit which will only last so long.

There is a TSB out about replacing factory clutches with new improved better peforming carbon fiber disc.

How did yours brake?
