Weird Ticking
Hey guys!! I am brand new to the forums and just recently got a 98 cobra. I have a question that I was wondering if someone could help me out with. I was driving the car the other day and I noticed some sort of ticking under harder acceleration. I had just changed the oil and had added a quart of lucas oil treatment to the engine, so it is running very smooth. I am wondering if the ticking is coming from the transmission or maybe has something to do with the clutch. Does anyone have any Idea?? I mean it idles perfect (no ticks of any kind) and if I drive really easy it dont tick. Only under hard acceleration it does it. Just recently my service engine light came on but I dont know if it has anything to do with this ticking noise. What do you guys think?? Before I bring it to a mechanic I was just wondering if you guys have any ideas. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
An exhaust leak sounds like a loud ticking when under accelleration, so thats the reason i suggested that. How much exhaust work is done? I bet it has a mid-pipe on it and its leaking from the header manifold/mid-pipe junction.

Yeah, I think that it is an exhaust leak, sounds like it's coming from a blow header gasket. Pop the hood and play with the throttle to see if thats the case.
