Default 1st post Quick question

I picked up a 1996 GT 5 speed bright tangerine 248A code a few months ago ( small car collection) I have a problem. If I try starting it without slightly pushing the gas, it will not start. Giving it the slightest amount of gas will cause it to start immediately. This will happen hot or cold. I just put a new alternator in, as I thought that could be the problem. After it starts, it idles at a smooth 800, no issues whatsoever. Could this be a TPS problem? I am not receiving any codes at all with my code reader. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Does your car have the stock throttle body? If someone installed an after market like bbk they don't have the small holes drilled into the butterfly. If I was you I would measure the voltage on the TPS and bump the set screw for the throttle blade open just a hair. Make sure you keep your tps below 1 volt
