'01 Oil Pressure Problem...HELP!
I've had my '00 GT for about 6 months with no problems. Thursday morning when I started the car I noticed the oil pressure gauge was cycling between normal and 0 pressure. It did this a half dozen times. I went to the gas station and checked the oil. As the engine had been running I could not get a good read, but as it looked down a bit I went ahead and added a quart. Pressure was fine all the way to work (50miles). After work I drove it home and the gauge read normal all the way. Friday morning I started the car to head to work and the gauge showed no pressure. After a few seconds it came up to normal for a second, but then dropped off again and did not come up again. I parked it and took my Vue into work.
What am I looking at here? I'm thinking with the weather change, (Wednesday night was the first frost) and the fact that the gauge is reading AOKAY or NADA, it is probably a sensor or wiring. What are the chances its something else?
Thanks

Does the car run like normal? It may be the sending unit that has gone bad. But oil pressure is nothing to toy with. Best thing to do is take it to your local mechanic and have it looked at.

Well, if you trust yourself and the car then get a new sending unit for the oil pressure and see if that fixes it. But if it starts acting up, then you need to get it to a garage in my opinion.
