wondering.. ok so i have a 97 cobra and i hit a deer to much work to fix so im going another route to bring her back to life.... i have a 98 mustang gt was going to drop the motor into that wondering what i would have to do ive heard its very simple swap... also..... I am wondering could i swap the 97 motor into the 99-03 body styles? is it a direct fit or does it need alot or modifcations to make it fit.. sorry for typing thanks in advance... most of the cobra is still good just with all the other problem this is the best route. to ssave sort story of why im doing this.

That engine will easily go into either of the cars you mentioned. Well, depending on whether the new car was a V6 car or not... You can still put your V8 in but it is considerably more work. It helps a lot that you have a complete donor car for this project. If the new car was a V6 you will need a lot of stuff from the old car - engine and trans of course, pcm, main wiring harness, rearend, cluster and steering column (if you want to retain PATS), and many other odds n' ends. If installing the Cobra engine into a GT it is much simpler - basically just need the engine and make some minor modifications to the wiring harness; the 2V pcm can run that engine just fine.

Go over to the Motor Swaps section here, may have to use the search box but look up the thread for Mark8 engine swap into SN95. Basically same engine as your Cobra, pretty much everything you need to know about the swap is in there.

there all v8s my main wonder is will the 97 cobra motor go into the 99-01 body and also the 02 and 03 is it basically a direct fit even in those styles... or only in the coupe style (98) because i will have alot more donor car options if i can use a 99-2003 body instaed of just a 96-98 with out having to do major work...
