Default 2000 Mustang GT Mileage won't show on gauges

I picked up a 2000 Mustang GT for $300, the car runs and drive, the only issue is I can not get the mileage to show. All other gauges work normal but I can not get the mileage to light up at all. I am not sure where to start looking at, all help would be appreciated.

by mileage i assume you mean odometer, you most likely have an issue internal to the instrument cluster. time for a new one

Yes the odometer, the speedometer and RPM and every other gauge work just will not show miles. I have another Mustang GT I can swap odometers out with to see if that fix the problem.

If you swap the clusters neither car will start.

i can explain it......the cluster contains the PATS (passive anti theft)information and if swapped out for another will result in a no crank anti theft event. the only way to make a swapped module work is to program that module to the car, and then program 2 keys.

im going to pull out the cluster and check the soldier joints. I read somewhere its a pretty common issue that they will break.

I don't know that it's common, but I do think that's a good place to start.

If you end up swapping clusters you can have PATS disabled via tune to avoid the expense of having everything reprogrammed.

Fixed. Took the cluster out, and noticed a broken pin on the back, replaced the pin and now it works.

Thanks for all the help.
