Default Bad Battery - Interstate stinks! Found a 1 year old JY battery!

I am done with Interstate batteries. They are 4 years and fail for my 1997 Cobra. I was sure it was the starter and just about ready to install one, but checked the battery and it was a short in the battery. Voltage was fine, but when under load it was failing.
I found a 1 year old PowerStart (oreily's) for $20. I am starting to be a fan of the Junkyard batteries. Finding them 1 or 2 years old, still with warranty for $20 with a core swap. Sure beats the $145 price and get about the same duration.

Battery prices have gone insane the last few years.

yeah lead acid batteries tend to sharply rise in price when your country's leaders close down all domestic lead smelting operations.

Seems like factory battery lasts a lot longer than replacement batteries.

^this^

Anymore I get my batteries from the Ford dealership and they are right in line with the price that Autostone or Dip**** Autoparts gets for theirs.

You're bitching that a battery lasts four years?????

I wish, Here in AZ they'll last two or three years tops. Our summers cook them, your winters freeze em.

Good luck finding one that last longer that four.

Yea, 3 years around here seem to be pretty good, even the stock ones.

I do remember years ago (like 80's and 90's that battery's practically lasted the life of the car (or at least seemed like it). Even my 00 V6 from Cali had the original battery in it for 7 years before it kicked the bucket. That was including it's last three years being here in AZ. Every since then, no matter what brand or from where I buy a battery from, they last two or three years tops.

So, i usually go from four to six years before I have to buy a new one because luckily they die right before the free replacement period ends.
