Aftermarket temp guage
I just got a 96 Mustang GT. The guy put a .302 in it and bored it to .308 has forged pistons new crank whole motor was built fresh. Has MSD distributor, and four barrel Holley carb. The after market gauge is ran from what I assume is where the temp switch used to be. Goes into the back of the scoop where you can see it driving. My question is, is yesterday it was saying it was running between 240-250 but I seen no smoke or it didn't act funny at all. The oil is still fresh so signs of head gasket damage. Is there some sort of interference with this gauge? I don't know for sure if what it's saying is right. It's an Ieques gauge from oriellys like $20 maybe. What should I do??

Get an infrared temperature gun, aim it at the thermostat housing and compare the temp gun reading to the gauge.
240°+ is pretty damn hot, so hopefully the gauge or it's sending unit is inaccurate. Otherwise you need to find out why it's running so hot, asap.
