the 4.6 modular motors are COP, or coil on plug, and do not have a rotor to turn and manually adjust the timing. Steeda makes an adjust that you mount over your timing plate and are able to, with a few hand tool, adjust your own timing. I dont reccomend this, unless you are not planning on haveing your car professionally tuned withe somehting liek the SCT, or diablo sport. with these computer systems, you can have your whole sys. re-mapped, including you timing. thats my 2 cents

I have a Steeda Timing adjuster and am very happy with it.You can adjust the timing +4* and still run regular 87 octane gas.I can't comment on HP gains but after carefull testing I gained two MPG's so there is at least one advantage to a timing adjuster. However I agree stongly with kruckster,if you are planning to use a tuner in the future you might as well wait untill you get the tuner.Do your research before buying a handheld, some will not adjust anything below 2000 RPM,where you do most of your driving. The timing adjuster goes from idle to redline.

Im assuming that Krukster has never used one. You shouldnt offer advice on stuff you dont know about.

The Timing adjuster from Steeda is a great mod for a good price. Its something you can do in your driveway in the matter of an hour if you're the slightest mechanically inclined. All it requires to install is remove three bolts from the A/C compressor, remove the crank sensor, put the mounting bracket in the hole (you CANT get that wrong its so easy) put the screw back in to the bracket that originally held the crank sensor in, then throw the timing wheels on and gap the senson and timing wheels... and dont forget to mount the A/C compressor back in. After you have it installed, set it for 14 degrees advanced and the car should run great. Here is a link for the install.

EDIT: You will need to run 93 octane once you are advanced past 10 degrees advanced or you will get detonation. Ive been there and done that just to see if it would work. You can try it if you want, just make sure you have some octane booster on hand!

Only the means of doing it. Thats all. One does it through the crank sensor and the other does it through the ECU.

Im not sure about the Diablo, but the Steeda changes it across the board. It has no other option because the crank sensor is reading it itself from the timing wheel. I may be wrong, but im 99.999% sure im correct.

Your ignition system is the part of your vehicle/engine that fires, or ignites, the compressed fuel and air mixture within your engine. The system combines a primary voltage delivery to the ignition coil and electronic control units and secondary voltage released from the coil travels through the distributor, out through the plug wires, to the spark plugs where it jumps the gap and ignites the mixture.
