I have an 01 GT and I just recently got rid of my h-pipe and my flow master 40’s for a straight pipe from the cats back with an x-pipe but still doesn’t quiet sound like I want it to. would upgrading to 3 inch pipe from the x-pipe back help (currently 2 1/4 inch) or should I just say to hell with that and delete the 2 upper cats ( the lower cats had been removed by the previous owner)? I am in South Carolina so I do not have to worry about passing emissions testing. If deleting the cats is the best option what is the best way to go about deleting them?

i really wouldnt do a cat delete simply because youll lose torque. if all you care about is sound then go for it but youll make less power and get worse mpg. if you want to keep your mpg and power or even improve while increasing sound id go with high flow cats or test pipes. high flow cats are exactly what it sounds like. a test pipe is like a cat but it has to filter on the inside. the test pipe still has an o2 sensor spot so your car can still get o2 readings. test pipe is probably the best way to go for you since you dont have to worry about emmisions. you can get test pipe for like $30 a piece but high flow cats are gonna cost you a pretty penny.
