Default newbie with questions

hi all, just joined

i live in england,we never had the mustang , but theres a few imports around that im thinking of getting

id like to ask those that live in the colder states...how do cope in bad weather, where are the common rust places??

we get a little ice and snow, would a 4.6 be usable in a little ice or snow or are they too much of a hand full in bad weather

any other help..things to look for? problem areas etc

I don't know about rust but as far as ice and snow just get a good set of snow tires.

I have a extra set of wheels with studed tires that gets me around great.

okay thanks for reply, we dont get enough snow for studded tyres...more like slushy roads or wet roads with frozen spots

i kinda thought maybe they were not suitable in winter

I live in FL and it rains alot here, the day after I bought my Mustang it poured and I almost lost control a couple times since I was driving a stock Honda Civic before. Now I have driven my Mustang through Hurricanes (literally) and I have absolutely no problems. Once you get the feel for your Mustang you should be able to drive it under any road conditions.

I drive my car all through winter even when its snowing. Just buy some snow tires. I even drove around last season on my stock goodyear tires. With 150lbs. of sand in the trunk. I could drive around with up to about 4" of fresh snow on the ground. Any more than that you wont be able to go up any hills. All you have to do is take it slow and drive carefully when its snowing. Also you will get used to counter stearing when the back end slides out. But no problem at all.

Agreed - if you live in an area with a lot of snow, snow tires are a MUST. I've fishtailed my car twice (thankfully I quickly regained control both times) in rain because I gave it a little too much gas going into second gear. There's no doubt that you have to be VERY careful with a rwd high torque muscle car in adverse weather.

do any of the 94 onward mustangs have any kind of traction control or winter setting on the autobox??

what about rust?? how are mustangs standing up in northern states??

any buyers guides??? its probably gona be a 96-99 kinda year, 4.6 and maybe a convertable

i have an 03 and it has traction control. im pretty sure...but not positive...that traction control comes standard on GT's for the 99-04 years. i'm not sure about the mid 90s 4.6. but i would think with that kind of car that theyd give u traction control.

Yeah, the 03 has traction control. Since you don't get a lot of snow, then I would suggest a good all-season radial.
