Reman cobra engine has lincoln block?
So, I've got a 98 SVT Cobra. I just discovered that on the side of the block there is a "Ford Authorized Remanufactured Engine" plate.
The casting on the block reads "RF-F2LE-6015-AG-HD"
From what I've gathered online this indicates a MKVIII Teksid Aluminum block.
The reman plate has part number "F8ZZ-6006-ARM", which according to a parts catalog from 2005, is the correct part number for the 98 Cobra 4V. The MKVIII part number is different.
So why would a genuine ford reman have a lincoln block?
I'm in the process of doing a clutch, and I did verify that it has an 8 bolt crank. From everything that I've seen on the outside, everything on the motor is correct for a cobra, except for the block having a lincoln number.
The heads are cast: "RF-F6ZE-6C064-AD", appears to be a standard cobra B-Head.
My next question is whether or not there is a database where I can lookup the serial number on this motor. Maybe when it was purchased, if it was installed by dealer, etc. I did grab an oasis report on the car and it has no record of it. But, the date on the motor is 2008 so it wouldn't be under warranty and thus wouldn't show up on oasis.

Ford Motor Company (Ford Car, Ford Truck, Lincoln Car, Lincoln Truck, Mercury Car) all are one in the same. Some brand names have been obsoleted (Mercury). The engine manufacturing plants were in Michigan/Romeo (iron blocks), Canada/Windsor(Aluminum blocks), and for a few years, Italy. the best sourced engines blocks were from Teskid in Italy. Their contracts include Ferrari, Mercedes, and for a few years the SVT team at Ford. Not a low quality part, you have the best casting Ford ever sourced.
