Default first mods on a 99-01gt

I am aboutto purhcase a 99-01 gt and im not familiar with the engine yet so i dont know how to modify it correctly. I think i want to change my gear ratio first because from what i read it sounds like a good idea. i heard 3.73s are the best choice and i also heard that changing ur axles would save u a lot of trouble in the future. what do tehy mean changing ur axles?... changing them to what?.. and i plan on puttin 19 in cobra rims on my car in the future so would that affect my gear ratio mod at all? thanks

When you change the axles, you are getting stronger parts for the axle so they won't fail. Getting 19" rims will slow down your accleration a tadbit beacuse the rims are bigger.

I would go with 18' inch rims but thats me. And as for your gearing 3:73. And the axle if it's not broke don't fix it!

The stock axles will work fine until you have a car that makes a ton of horsepower. The gear choice is good, but don't waste your time or money with the axles for now.

That's correct. Also, if you're a drag racer, 4.10s on an NA car allow you to cross the 1/4 mi. traps at or near redline in 4th.

19-inch wheels will not slow acceleration if the tires are of appropriately lower sidewall ratio. Big wheels with low-profile tires usually yield less traction, though, due to less elastic rebound.

Yep, 3.73s are better for power adder cars.
