.....New gears don't add any power at all. what they do is somewhat like a bicycle the lower the gear the easier at low speeds it is to get your self moving. Don't get me wrong new gears are a great thing to have i would go with 3:73s or 4:10s Just dont think they are going to add any power at all. Oh yeah and 4:10s are going to screw up your gas millige and render 1st gear almost useless on the street.

Default first mods on a 99-01gt

Hey Y'all. I have a '01 GT w/ auto and all stock, with 32K miles. I just got a new PU truck to drive to work so I can now mess around with this thing and make it a more fun ride. I want to lower about 1-1.25", strut tower brace, sub-frame connector, exhaust. What I really need to know, other than parts recommendations, is: will I need to change any other parts other than springs to lower. Will this adversely effect my alignment/ability to align the vehicle. Do I need to change to different shocks, steering, suspension parts? Anyone out there had any FIRSTHAND experience with doing this? Appreciate any help I can get.

I also want to go to a wider tire, but want to avoid the expense of bigger rims. What is the biggest tires I can put on the "Bullit" 17X8.5's. 275X40X17's? Are these stock rims wide enough for that? Huh? Huh?

I had 275/40 size tires on my stock rims, they're really a bit bigger than they should be but I never had any problems.
