Yeah, why not, you'll just need to get somting to change your computer to read the proper gear ratio, might as well get one fo the computer programmers that change shift points and firm up the tranny too.

Gears (4:10s) and get a locker in there while it's apart.

You can change gears, the rear differential is the same as manuals..

You want 4.10 gears which will run you around $200, you also want a shift kit (not experienced with Ford AODE's so ask someone else here).

If you're going to get a locker, let me make a suggestion.

Get an ARB Air Locker. A little pricy yes, but it lets you make an open diff and with the flick of a switch have a locker for the track. I personally feel this is MUCH better than the Detroit Lockers and such, because you don't have all the clunking from the rear end when it's locking and unlocking in turns.

Another option (not sure if they have it for the new Mustang rear ends though, they're mostly off-road oriented like ARB, but the same traction benefits will be had on the track) is an OX locker. Basically cable actuated, so it's cheaper and easier to install....a cable vs. an air compressor, tank, lines, silinoids....you get the idea. OX and ARB's are freaking bullet proof for the most part.
