I see the machs run 13.2 stock and some 13.5 etc...
one I saw somewhere run high high 12s stock.
and the MACHS are not S/Cd like the cobra... and they RUN REALLY CLOSE with a stock cobra in 1/4 mile, correct?

Lidio's project Mach 1 posts a blistering 10.58 @ 130 mph at Martin Raceway on April 30, 2005. The 60 ft. time of 1.58 was accomplished with drag radials, and a completely stock suspension with just MegaBite lower control arms.



that Mach is running MID 10's with a stock suspension (minues LC arms)

and STock exhaust manifolds...

THATS impressive. IMO.

I'll agree with you on this one. I've loved the Mach's since their return. The shaker hood scoop just about makes me cry when I see it reving up. And with the same engine as the Cobra, minus the s/c, it just looks better and is probably my next stang, unless something else better is out in 6 years.

Yeah I had enough when I purchased my low mileage 04 GT (4k miles)

I was on the hunt for a 04 Mach 1 but couldnt find one anywhere around here. (and didnt want to deal with shipping it in etc)
So I had to settle for a GT.

there is talk of a new mach in 08' so I'm taking the next 2 years to restore my 65'.

Im going to have to disagree completely. Please do not forget that for slightly north of $4.5k ($30,839-$26,224 invoice price www.msnauto.com) you get s/c + Forged internals+ T-45 6 speed+ IRS(Superior handeling ability) + THE FREAKING FACT ITS A COBRA!= way more than having a damn shaker hood scoop. I agree that machs are beautiful, and that they can be made much faster than a GT in N/A form, but I dont know how you can say BETTER. Better in what?

Performance? Not a chance

Style? Completely Opinion (Cobra>Mach IMO)

Performance Platform? Give me a break! You say a mach has more potential? I do not think there is ONE pro to the Mach 1 that is not equal or surpassed by the cobra(besides compression).

And for the IRS arguement, A swap can easily be done to a straight axle. If u want to get into the 10's I think the mach is a great start, but i cannot say it is BETTER.

This is all true, until you are making just about the same monthly payment (even if the cobra owner has a 1 year longer loan) . Then, as you fork out what, close to 500 a month before insurance, you both start to mod. You start with the basic exaust/intake boltons for about 1500 bucks, and he spends the same amount on a pully/chip/exaust. And he is making 475+ RWHP, and you are making what, 330 RWHP??

Cobra hands down for performance.

BTW, I do beileve the machs came with a forged bottom end (the manual trans ones at least, people forget this difference) and cobras have 6 spd T-56 not -45.

I guess you could get the mach and spray (n20) the crap outta it (with exaust), and it would probably damm near run with a pully/exaust/tune cobra. But other than that you need to fork over 4-5K for a supercharger to run even. (or a TON of weight reduction)

I do love the Mach 1s btw, it seems like a totally different car than the GT just sitting in one. But it doesnt compare to the cobra in out of the box or easy cheap mods performance.

My buddys cobra ran an 11.8 with the change of the blower pully, catback, prochamber and a predator tune.

My buddys Mach ran the best of 12.6 with a 125 shot, 4.30's, full exhaust, U-L CA's, Predator tune, Pullys, sticky tires and a short throw shifter. I may have missed a mod or two.
