Ummm what year do you have. A cai will be pretty cheap off of ebay, bomz is decent, every now and then you can luck out on a k&n, but stay away from the cheapies. Now a shifter will, I think, help give you a quicker change of gears, but won't offer you really that more performance. Me I suggest a cai, it will help your engine run smoother and will give you slighly better gas milage, well as long as you keep your foot out of the engine bay. If you can find one cheap enough also try to get a set of uderdrive pulleys, they don't generate hp, but rather free up hp by slowing the speed of the belt by reducing the size of your crank, and waterpump pulleys, smaller size less hp needed to spin the pulleys. This mod will also lower your revs a hair, which is how this mod saves gas.

I voted for a shifter because you will actually feel the difference. I have a CAI and it looks good under the hood but with LM1's you can't hear it suck air in anymore and you can't feel a power difference. The shifter you will use every time u drive. I ordered my MGW shifter 2 days ago from shiftergaskets.com (A SPONSOR!!) for $201 including shipping. I'll tell you how it feels when it arrives.

Umm, I have a nice setup as well, and no power problems what so ever, unless your taking a hell of a lot of energy to run it, and on a mustang I don't even see how it's possible, the underdrive pulleys should not pose a problem. You could also, in the long run, get a high output alternator.

Couldn't you grab 3.73s for about 200?

Well of course you can grab a pair of 3.73's for 200. The problem is, is you will need another 300. to 400. for the install kit and the install of the gears. So technically that would be a waste.

Protect your 3650 and get a short shifter first.

How powerful? Some folks here have 1500+ watt systems and UDPs with no issues, with ALL electrical accessories on. You can also buy 200 amp alternators to sway in.
